Q: It took multiple lineups and albums for Pulp to become successful. After 14 years of wanting it, did fame live up to your expectations?

JC: Of course not. As soon as I had it, I hated it. I was always quite socially inept, but I thought fame would sort all that out. And for a while it did, because I met people and went out a lot. But when we got to the “Common People” level of popularity, it then reached a tipping point, where it flipped over and became isolating. Especially after the Michael Jackson incident in 1996, I couldn’t go out anymore, so that hampered my social development. [READ A LOT MORE]
