The Postmarks - Six Different WaysThe Postmarks — “Six Different Ways” [FREE DOWNLOAD @ EMUSIC]

This month’s blurb is from Tim Yehezkely: “There are probably more than Six Different Ways to feel inside but Robert Smith apparently experienced six. Maybe it has to do with rolling a die. Or maybe his heart had some extra chambers. In any case we’re into The Cure, we like the song and it has six in the title so there you go.”

The Postmarks - Five YearsThe Postmarks — “Five Years” [FREE DOWNLOAD @ EMUSIC]
This month’s blurb is from Jonathan Wilkins: “It is not too far fetched to imagine Armageddon in these times… a fiery end that David Bowie captured beautifully in ‘Five Years.’ The song expresses the myriad of emotions a world would feel if they knew they only had five years left to live. It reminds us that we often neglect reflection and insist on burying our heads in the sand for fear that the world will end if we pay attention to it.”

The Postmarks recently finished up a quick stint of shows in their homestate of Florida, all of which continued to show off, as Flavorpill stated, their “haunting, heartsick ballads and rosy pop melodies,” or, as The Miami Herald put nicely, music that’s created “with the hearts of listeners in mind.”

Prefix also put some up some great pics of the April 30th Orlando show, including the one below.

The Postmarks in Orlando

The Palm Beach Post called the band’s “combination of beautiful melody and retro-Euro influences” “a standout” at May 1st’s SunFest, while another Post writer said of them: “I’ve always liked their music, and after seeing them live, I like them even more.”

The Broward-Palm Beach New Times also featured the band as part of a preview of the May 2 show, which was free in celebration of the June UK release of The Postmarks, a lifelong dream of Christopher Moll’s.

The Postmarks Release #4 In “By The Numbers” Exclusively @ eMusic

Monday, April 14th, 2008

postmarksThe Postmarks - “OX4″ [FREE DOWNLOAD @ EMUSIC]
The Postmarks’ Christopher Moll tells us, “The original by Ride is a favorite in that it tugs on multiple emotional strings. The music has this hugeness about it that seems to swim in the beauty and openness of being on the road (i.e. touring). Lyrically, it’s a little bit of: be careful what you wish for. While there is a certain freedom one has on the road, it’s easy to get lost in that. Add a touch of homesickness and there you go.”

Upcoming shows for the Postmarks in the home-state…

Wed April 30 - Orlando, FL @ the Plaza Theatre
Thu May 1 - West Palm Beach, FL @ SunFest
Fri May 2 - Miami @ Vagabond Lounge

The Postmarks Release #3 In “By The Numbers” Exclusively @ eMusic

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

postmarksThe Postmarks - “Three Little Birds” [FREE DOWNLOAD @ EMUSIC]
The Postmarks’ Christopher Moll tells, “While the original is certainly a classic, Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds” always hinted (to me at least) at something a little more paternal and nurturing then the upbeat original let on. We choose to take this in the direction of a hushed lullaby but with its darker underpinnings and almost mournful quality it raises the question…is “Every Little Thing” actually going to be “Alright”?…”

The Postmarks Release 2nd Installment of “By The Numbers” Exclusively @ eMusic

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

postmarksThe Postmarks - “You Only Live Twice” [FREE DOWNLOAD @ EMUSIC]
The Postmarks’ Christopher Moll tells, “From the James Bond film of the same name, John Barry and Nancy Sinatra’s original sweeps you away the minute it begins. It’s a complete coincidence that the first two tracks we choose for this series were made famous by Sinatra’s. We choose to maintain the epic quality of Barry’s composition while marrying it with a good dose of the dreamy and vaporous qualities of Nancy’s work with Lee Hazelwood. Now, if only we get the chance to write a Bond theme song Jon can die and go to heaven…”

The Postmarks Launch By The Numbers Exclusively At eMusic

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

postmarksThe Postmarks - “One Note Samba” [DOWNLOAD @ EMUSIC]

The Postmarks present… “By The Numbers” – A free 12-part series of cover songs presented as mp3 downloads exclusively at eMusic. Inspired by the popularity of covers they’ve released over the last year (Ministry’s “Every Day Is Hallowe’en” and Astrud Gilberto’s “Dreamer”), The Postmarks launch a lengthy endeavor of re-interpreting some of their favorite songs with their signature lush arrangements.

Every month of 2008, The Postmarks shall release a cover song with exclusive artwork relating to the number of the month. The first selection is available January 8th. For the 1st month of the year, The Postmarks apply their signature sound to “One Note Samba”, originally composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim and famously covered by Frank Sinatra. Indeed an a propos selection to begin the series, as The Postmarks’ Christopher Moll informs us, “… Jobim’s work is the real terra firma root that bring us together. The first song we worked on together was ‘Vivo Sonhando (Dreamer)’ and while this song is nowhere near as beautiful as ‘Vivo’, it certainly has a playfulness as it moves between its droning verses and lighthearted chorus…”

Further chapters of the series already have covers of Nancy Sinatra and Bob Marley slotted in so stay tuned to eMusic for more by The Postmarks all thru the year!

Meanwhile, The Postmarks head to Langerado…
Thu - Jan 31 @ The Social, Orlando, FL
Fri - Feb 01 @ New World Brewery, Ybor City, FL
Sat - Feb 02 @ Circa 28, Miami, FL
Thu - Mar 06 @ Langerado Music Festival

The Postmarks On MSNBC And MTV2 Subterraneanblog

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

“Yehezkely, a girl with a guy’s name, has a voice to match her beauty. She’s also 25. She’s a chemistry student, but her passion is music. “In college, I was trying to figure out what I loved doing and I didn?t know, so I was just trying everything,” she said. “I found out that I really loved writing songs.” Yehezkely sings for a local band called the Postmarks. She said she admits that all the attention at a recent photo shoot was a bit overwhelming….” - MSNBC [READ MORE]

“We like it when girl singers just stare at the camera from under their eyelashes without singing. Really, it’s quite beguiling.” - mtv2 Subterranean [WATCH]

The Postmarks Receive Kudos On Ocean Drive

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

the Postmarks Ocean Drive “It might surprise you to discover the next great American talent is a chemistry student at FAU in Boca. It surprises her, too. “I write songs for fun but never thought I’d wind up in a hit band receiving international attention…” …Tim Yehezkely—whose first name isn’t abbreviated and often gets her mistaken for a boy—may have inadvertently stumbled into her gig as the silky-voiced chanteuse of The Postmarks, but the nouveau-pop trio scored huge with their eponymous debut, praised in Spin as “enchanting and multidimensional” and hailed by the on-line music authority Pitchfork Media as “a contender for Album of the Year.” - Ocean Drive Magazine [READ MORE]

Plus, not to be outdone or overlooked… The Postmarks top KXUA 88.3 FM’s Cameron’s Top 20 - Holler out to Arkansas!

We hope you don’t succumb to any end-of-year myopia like many media outlets are these days in compiling their best-of-2007 lists… The Postmarks self-titled debut in Feb earlier this year, is still a heart-warmer, and it’s just about the right time to pull it off your shelves and pop this blogospheric classic back on the player!
