Flaming Lips Make Peace With Death For Halloween
Monday, October 29th, 2007“Oklahoma Gazette invited resident Okie eccentrics the Flaming Lips to participate in its annual “Ghouls Gone Wild” Halloween parade, the Lips enlisted their biggest fans to join the March Of 1,000 Flaming Skeletons–a “spectacle celebrating the mysterious, the supernatural, and the otherworldly,” according to the band’s recruitment email.” - Yahoo Music
“As Spinner previously reported, the Flaming Lips will lead 1,000 volunteers in a “March of the Thousand Flaming Skeletons” as part of the annual Halloween parade in Oklahoma City this Friday. NewsOK: You could be living anywhere you want, but you’ve chosen to stay in Oklahoma and you’ve even chosen to remain pretty much in the neighborhood where you grew up… Why did you choose to stay here?
Coyne: Well, early on we didn’t really make any of those choices. We were just being who we really were, which I think is the only way you can do it. I was 22 when we put out our first record and began this life as The Flaming Lips.
